[ She's stuck trying to figure out how to work this out, but the question is enough to startle a snort out of her, and a subsequent tone of voice somewhere between exasperation and dry amusement. ]

[ There were others she tried to help that weren't so lucky too, but... she tries really hard not to think about it. ]

Well. [ Flummoxed pause. ] It was a pulse.

... I don't know what it is.

It was... a pulse gave you a bird? It's not another bird god like Anais's, right?

[House-sized, green, and apparently not needing to eat.]

[ -- Bird god? What?

Needless to say, Kallie managed to miss that particular post. ]

I don't know who that is.

She's a kid, pulsed back something she calls Windam. He's huge and just kind of sitting on her apartment. She was worried he was going to eat someone, I offered to try talking to him, and she was just like... no, no, I'll do that.

So how big is yours?

[ What even. Yeah, she'll definitely have to look into this, but...

After another few moments left to trying to mentally sort through that, she huffs, trying to push it aside. ]

Well. He's green too, but... he can sit in my hand, so.

[ And clearly that means that even if this is a baby he can't get much bigger than like... a chicken, right? ]

Probably not a god, then.

[he's amused.]

I can take a look. Is he hurt, or you just want like checking?

[ Nah, just a... well, we won't go into details. It definitely doesn't seem like something quite so divine for now though, when the bird in question looks kind of like a puffball-happy children's Easter project... ]

No, he seems fine. I just--

... Don't know what to feed him.

[Non-pigeon birds fed on pigeon milk grow up faster and stronger than birds fed normal high-nutrition food! ...but Julien wouldn't think of that.]

Huh... Is this like a hatchling, or an adult? Claws and beak might be good hints.

Er.

[ That's a good question. For all she knows he could be anywhere between years old or 'just popped out of an egg yesterday' age. Her past-life's world hasn't exactly proven itself to be... normal, and the chick himself is already plenty abnormal. ]

Would you rather just see a video or...?

Video would be a start. I do also know a language animals understand, so maybe if I met him it could help.

Okay...

[ There's a pause, but then after a minute or so there is video, if not very quality- the same apartment as before, with Kallie's hand and arm coming into frame as she reaches out in the direction of a green puffball staring really intensely out the window.

"Hey... come here," says Kallie's voice- and even though there has to be a distance of at least five feet and the bird looks rather like a roly-poly baby chicken than something capable of fluttering over to her hand... that's exactly what it does, after an obligatory moment of blankly staring at her. No trouble at all. ]

...well, that's interesting.

[He considers.]

What have you offered him? Does he gape and beg you or just peck at stuff?

[ The video keeps going, though in a kind of awkward manner; Kallie's certainly no photographer, and it moves around strangely as the girl apparently folds herself into a chair or something while still keeping the camera on the little chocobo in general.

There's a quiet kweee! of protest at the jostling, but he stays in place. ]

... He's gotten into my vegetables, granola... maybe the yogurt, too.

[ Help she has a strong suspicion he might want to eat anything.... ]

Well, that's a start. Probably... It looks kind of like a chicken. Those guys end up able to eat everything, just about.

If he's this robust it might be worth just seeing whatever he'll eat. Offer... oh, chopped vegetables, all kinds, same with fruit, and grain... Unsalted nuts, those might be good. Chopped up hardboiled egg, sprouted seeds. Dairy's probably fine. Stay away from things with caffeine, and junk food, and like avacados.

[He considers for another moment.]

And make sure there's water.

Maybe. I've talked to him before, he uses the athelas I gave his friend. It's still going to be a business, though.

A plant one of my friends pulsed. It's this weird thing - lots of medicinal uses, and if you make tea with it the steam and the water itself make you feel calmer and more positive.
