It's not really explained in canon, but with someone's help Yuuya can connect his head to a sleeper's with a bunch of suction cups and wires. Then if he goes to sleep himself he can enter their dream, witness it and interrupt things, converse with them, and persuade them to wake up. This holds true if it's a supernatural dream, too. In canon he enters a shared dream maintained by a ghost and stocked with lesser ghosts, is booted out and wakes up once, and goes back in later to help the people trapped there to get out.
